FTA in AppV with SCCM

Postby d4rkcell » Thu Jul 29, 2010 1:03 pm

Hi,

We have published adobe reader and foxit reader, both are able to view pdf files and both have an FTA for pdf files in the manifest.xml file.

My question is this, we want to change the FTA for foxit so pdf isn't in the FTA this would mean all pdf files would open only with adobe reader.

The problem is I understand the only way to sort out the FTA is at the sequencer, my question is where at the sequencer do you have options to modify FTA? Do we need to do this in the App as it is installing? If so Foxit and adobe reader don't seems to have sections where you can specify FTA's for that app.

Previously we were using AppV server to import these apps and then sorting out the FTA using the management console. Now we are using SCCM to pre-cache using the MSI generated when saving the package. I have read that simply changing the manifest.xml file wouldn't work as FTA settings are also stored inside the msi. My ultimate question is how can we remove or edit FTA for an app in the sequencer?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks
CW

During sequencing you should see a configure phase where the Sequencer has detected the installed application. Drill down into each application and below each you should see the detected file type associations. You can edit or remote where applicable.

Aaron thank you for the quick reply I will give that a try this afternoon and update should it prove successful.

EDIT: it works great. I had seen this previously but had completely forgotten, thanks again!
