Virtualization Deep Dive Day Event 2/12/2010

Postby seq_tim » Sun Jan 10, 2010 11:52 pm

Hey folks, wanted to let you all know about this event. I will be doing some App-V, and Symantec's Brian Duckering will be covering their Application Virtualization as well. Plus there are sessions for all the other forms of Virtualization.

With the New Year, comes a new Community Virtualization Deep Dive Day. This year, we have what looks like will be the best lineup in Boston ever. In addition, we will simulcast part of the event to other locations across the North America so people in other locations can enjoy the show!

More details can be found on the Deep Dive Day Landing Page (http://www.virtg.com/DeepDive2010/Default.aspx). In a nutshell it is an all day virtualization event being held in Waltham MA on Friday Feb 12, 2010. We have Panopto lined up to simulcast one of the five tracks to the New York City, St Louis, and Calgary. Many of the sessions will be recorded and made available for online viewing after the show. You need a ticket so read on to find out about all the event and registration details.

Hi Tim.

Is it possible to "only" get access to the online stuff?
For those of us from far far away :)

Ole Kristian,

Yes, you may register for the recorded content only.

We are only streaming live to user groups, but that is the content being recorded. We just are not ready to support individuals for the live stream this year -- streaming live to the user groups is as much as we can handle.

We went with Panopto after looking at and trying different technologies over the last year. They have a better viewing experience. You will be able to flip between the video camer feed and the screen capture feed as you wish, which I find very helpful when you can't be there in person. They also seem to do a better job capturing screen motion that you would get in a demo, for example. Unfortunately the service costs money, so we are charging $15 to subscribe to watch the feed. Depending on how much of the recorded content people watch, we should be able to keep the content available for most of a year after the event. It will take up to three days for the content post-processing for the full 8 hours, but fortunately it is a fully automated process.

Given where you live, recorded should be a better option than staying up until midnight to see it live anyway!

Thanks for the feedback Tim. I'm interested in attending as well, but coming from Germany isn't cost effect to my customer for a 1 day trip (unless you have a great write-up already prepared). I'll be looking forward to that Online content as well.

Well I'm signed up for the Online Content - my customer will allow me to pick one event for this year with paid travel expenses & I would like some advanced training so... I'll have to settle with the Online Content for now. Make sure you all smile for the cameras so I can put a face with a name.

I should have mentioned this, we have local content added for the other timezones...

If you are in the St. Louis area, Microsoft MVP Matt McDermott will be doing a local App-V presentation there in place of the Waltham closing session.

If you are in the Calgary area, Microsoft MVP Kevin Kaminski will be doing a local App-V presentation there in place of the Waltham closing session.
