Firefox 3.6 with addons Flashblock and flash

Postby astar0 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 5:15 pm

Hi,

Has anyone succesfully sequenced firefox 3.6 with and without add-ons? I am having problems where it doesnt save any of the settings i adjust in firefox.js.

It also doesnt seem to hold the add-ons i install once sequenced.

Anyone got any tips or a recipe?

Hi,

I've done this several times, i'll see if i can find the recipe in my database. Some of the add-ons in firefox do have serious issues when trying to add them to a virtualized version of Firefox.
Firefox itself is a breeze to virtualize.

are there any specific plug-ins that you are trying to add to the package?

Hi

Im trying to sequence Firefox 3.6 with the addin flash and flashblock.

I dont seem to be able to even get firefox to work on its own at the moment. Whatever settings i set as default it seems to forget.

I want to set it up with auto update disabled, default homepage set, pac file address added. I have read about excluding CSIDL_APPDATA but to be honest I dont know where to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I think you have installed the add-ons by downloading from the site it came from. I think the best way to know if an add-on is compatible for the version of firefox is to search it to tools then Add-ons. After the pop-up window appears search the add-on you like and if it is not on the list then it is not compatible for the version.

fFireFox has the special "habit", that it stores User Configuration and some AddOns in the LOCALAPPDATA directory. This, by default, is excluded by the Sequencer.

You could try to remove the "CSIDL_LOCA_APPDATA" Exclusion Item from the Sequencer's Tools/Options menu

so i've just gone through this process, and you can add the extensions in as 'global'.

effectively, when you get to the 'Run' part of your sequenced apps, run firefox. Then shut down firefox, and delete the Mozilla folder out of %APPDATA%. Then, you need to download the XPI's of the extension you want installed to the install path for your sequenced app, mine as an example is Q:\Firefox\Extensions. Once you've got your XPI's in this location, run the following:

Q:\Firefox\firefox.exe -install-global-extension "<path-to-extension>\extname.xpi"

This will install the extension as a global extension available by default for all users.
